Below is a brief history
of the car we have all come to love and cherish. We hope you enjoy reading
about this fabulous iconic vehicle.
The first prototype was completed in 1976 by William T Collins. The first Delorean DMC-12 rolled off the production line in Dunmurry on 21st January 1981, approximately 9200 DMC-12's were produced before production stopped in December 1982.
There are believed to be around 6500 DMC-12's still in existence today. The Delorean as it became known due to the fact that only one model was ever produced, had gullwing doors, a fibreglass underbody and non structural brushed stainless steel body panels.
The DeLorean appeared in many films, but probably most notably as the
"time machine" in the 1980's Back to the Future movie trilogy.
